We are a well-established, owner-managed real estate company with a portfolio of multifamily communities across Houston, Dallas, and Austin. We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Accountant or Assistant Controller with deep multifamily property accounting knowledge and strong Yardi expertise to join our growing team.

This role is ideal for a seasoned accounting professional who is comfortable working across multiple properties, understands Texas multifamily operations, and can operate with a high degree of independence while partnering closely with leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and present accurate monthly financial statements and operational reports for multiple properties.
  • Manage and oversee month-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and mortgage billing entries.
  • Review and oversee accounting functions such as accounts payable, management fees, recurring purchase orders, utility billing, and expense allocations.
  • Ensure proper accounting treatment and compliance with company policies and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Analyze financial results, identify variances, and assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
  • Serve as a Yardi subject-matter expert, supporting on-site and corporate teams with system questions, troubleshooting, and best practices.
  • Partner with operations, regional management, and leadership to resolve accounting issues and improve processes.
  • Assist with audits, lender requests, and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of recent, hands-on accounting experience in multifamily property management or Texas real estate (required).
  • Advanced proficiency in Yardi Voyager is required (candidates without Yardi experience will not be considered).
  • Strong understanding of multifamily accounting practices, including CAM, utilities, accruals, and intercompany entries.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and solid proficiency in the full Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple properties, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across teams.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.

Why Join Us?

We offer a competitive compensation package including:

  • Medical and dental insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
