Position Summary: The Toys & Novelties Merchant will play a pivotal role in selecting and procuring a wide range of products for our Toys & Games, Souvenirs & Novelties, Books, & Accessories categories. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the Toys market and a strategic point of view to grow the souvenir & novelties categories, aligned to our outdoors and nature-inspired ethos. The Merchant will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to maximize sales, margin, and inventory turnover.
Essential Functions: •Works with Divisional Merchandise Manager to develop and execute all aspects of category strategic planning.
•Work with National Brands to curate a selection of Toys & Novelties that completes the assortment for our customer.
•Works with our Owned Brand teams to lead the creation of product that fulfills unique needs for our customer.
•Manage inventory levels to ensure optimal stock at all times, avoiding overstock and stockouts.
•Analyze sales data and customer feedback to identify trends, forecast demand, and make informed purchasing decisions.
•Works with Divisional Merchandise Manager and Finance Teams to develop category financial goals.
•Analyze market trends and consumer insights to identify new product opportunities and ensure a fresh and relevant product mix.
•Train and coach store associates on product knowledge, selling techniques, and customer service specific to the Toys & Novelties department.
•Organize and oversee in-store promotions, displays, and marketing efforts for the Toys & Novelties category line.
•Work with the marketing team to develop strategies to increase sales and brand awareness, and to deliver a WOW-worthy customer experience in our annual Santa's Wonderland Toy Shop.
•Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as industry regulations.
Experience/Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in business, retail management, or a related field preferred.
- 8+ Years of Experience
- Proven experience in retail, with a preference for experience in toys, souvenirs accessories, and books.
Knowledge Skills And Ability: - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for dealing with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and a deep understanding of the customer and competitive landscape.
- Ability to analyze data and market trends to make strategic merchandising decisions.
- Strong organizational and inventory management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- High school diploma required, bachelor's degree in business, retail management, or a related field preferred.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: - Regularly walks, sit, stands and performs computer work
- Occasionally lifts up to 50lbs.

- Develops strategic direction, goals, plans and policies for an area of responsibility. Sets broad objectives and is accountable for overall results in respective area of responsibility. Authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance. Requires high degree of independent judgment and problem solving of complex problems.
