Job Description
DESCRIPTION
Amazon Robotics is seeking a Cloud Operations Engineer to join our team and help architect and maintain our cloud infrastructure supporting one of the world's largest robotics fleets. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing AWS-based solutions that enable real-time monitoring, and management of robots operating in Amazon facilities worldwide.
We're looking for someone who is passionate about cloud architecture, has strong problem-solving skills, and can work effectively with robotics and software engineering teams to build reliable and scalable cloud solutions for robotics operations.
Key job responsibilities
- Design and implement cloud-native architectures to support robot fleet management, telemetry, and remote operations
- Develop and maintain AWS infrastructure as code using CDK/CloudFormation for robotics operations platforms
- Create and optimize cloud-based solutions for real-time robot data processing and analytics
- Implement robust IoT device management and communication systems using AWS IoT Core
- Work with robotics teams to design and implement cloud-based control and monitoring systems
- Participate in on-call rotation to support critical cloud infrastructure
- Mentor team members on cloud architecture best practices and AWS services
A day in the life
No two days are quite the same in this team... We might start the day with a stand up to review our cloud infrastructure status, but then things can change rapidly. One day this candidate might be designing a new IoT architecture for robot fleet management, talking to key stakeholders and working out how to scale the solution. Another day they might be optimizing AWS Lambda functions for real-time robot telemetry processing, working alongside robotics engineers to ensure efficient data handling. Then, that afternoon, we might pivot to implementing new AWS IoT rules for robot state management. And in between all of this, working closely with 2 - 6 team mates to ensure our cloud infrastructure supports our robotics operations effectively. Our cloud engineers take complete ownership of the infrastructure they develop and frequently explore new AWS services to meet evolving operational needs.
