Position Summary:

Are you a strategic thinker with a knack for research and a passion for higher education? Brandeis Universityâ™s Institutional Advancement (IA) Division is on the lookout for a dynamic, self-motivated professional to join our Prospect Research team as a Senior Prospect Research Analyst. This pivotal role, reporting to the Associate Director of Prospect Research and Pipeline Development, is your chance to contribute to the identification and engagement of major donor prospects, driving the mission and growth of Brandeis University.

Why This Role?

As a Senior Prospect Research Analyst, you'll be at the heart of our Prospect Development efforts. Your work will involve in-depth research and analysis to help expand our major donor pool, provide strategic insights, and support the implementation of a comprehensive Prospect Development program. Youâ™ll manage projects, mentor junior staff, and ensure our research products meet the highest standards of quality and customer service.

What You will Do:

  • Reactive Research (40%): Conduct detailed analysis of individuals, corporations, and foundations to inform fundraising strategies. Create in-depth profiles and respond to research requests from fundraisers, maintaining positive relationships and meeting deadlines.
  • Proactive Research (40%): Participate in projects to identify new prospects, analyze prospect screenings, and support prospect development strategies. Attend strategy meetings and stay informed on university fundraising efforts.
  • Department Management Support (15%): Assist in managing the research queue, mentor junior staff, produce reports, and serve as a liaison for special initiatives.
  • Operational Support (5%): Maintain accurate prospect data, promote best practices in data management, and collaborate with colleagues to enhance portfolio and pipeline management.

Who You Are:

Educational Background: Bachelorâ™s degree required; Masterâ™s preferred. Background in marketing research, sales, financial analysis, library science, or related fields.

Experience: 5-7 years in advancement research, prospect management, fundraising, or equivalent experience. Competency with Apraâ™s Advanced Prospect Research Skill Sets and experience with high-capacity philanthropic prospects preferred.

Skills: Exceptional research, writing, and analytical skills. Proficiency in computer technologies, database management, and electronic subscription services. Strong judgment, discretion, and commitment to data security.

Attributes: Detail-oriented, self-starter with excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects. Collaborative, customer-service oriented, and willing to work occasional evenings and weekends.
