Job Title: Nissan Shop Foreman / Dispatcher
Department: Service
Reports To: Service Manager
FLSA Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt (or Exempt based on structure)

Position Summary

The Nissan Shop Foreman / Dispatcher oversees the daily operations of the service department’s technical staff while coordinating the efficient flow of repair orders. This dual-role position ensures that all work is assigned based on technician skill level, productivity, and availability, while maintaining Nissan quality standards, safety compliance, and exceptional customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities Shop Foreman Duties
  • Supervise, guide, and mentor service technicians to ensure repairs are completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with Nissan factory specifications.

  • Perform quality checks on completed work to maintain service excellence and warranty compliance.

  • Provide technical assistance and training to technicians for complex diagnostic or repair procedures.

  • Monitor shop productivity, efficiency, and repair timelines to maximize throughput and minimize downtime.

  • Ensure all safety regulations and cleanliness standards are met in the shop area.

  • Collaborate with Service Manager to evaluate staffing needs, training programs, and tool/equipment requirements.

Dispatcher Duties
  • Assign repair orders to technicians based on skill set, workload, and priority level.

  • Balance workload among technicians to optimize efficiency and ensure timely completion of all jobs.

  • Track the status of all repairs and update advisors/service management as needed.

  • Coordinate with the parts department to ensure parts availability before job assignments.

  • Adjust the schedule dynamically in response to emergency repairs, high-priority warranty work, or customer concerns.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as an automotive technician, preferably Nissan-certified or with equivalent OEM experience.

  • Strong knowledge of Nissan service procedures, diagnostic systems, and warranty guidelines.

  • Prior experience in a supervisory or dispatch role in an automotive service environment preferred.

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced shop.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficient in dealership management systems (CDK) and manufacturer-specific service software.

  • ASE certifications and Nissan technical certifications are highly desirable.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Work in varying temperature conditions inside the shop.
