Job Summary:

The Safety Specialist is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment by developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs and procedures. This role involves conducting risk assessments, training employees on safety protocols, and ensuring compliance with all relevant safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Implement Safety Programs: Create and maintain safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Conduct Risk Assessments: Identify potential hazards and implement measures to mitigate risks.
  • Training and Education: Conduct safety training sessions for employees and management to promote a culture of safety.
  • Incident Investigation: Investigate accidents and incidents to determine causes and recommend preventive measures.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Ensure the organization complies with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Safety Audits: Perform regular safety audits and inspections to identify and correct unsafe conditions or practices.
  • Emergency Response: Develop and implement emergency response plans and conduct drills.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of safety-related activities, incidents, and training.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry best practices and incorporate them into the safety programs.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelors degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a safety role.
  • Certifications: a minimum of OSHA 30 hour for Construction and/or General Industry.
  • Skills:
    • Practical knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards.
    • Excellent communication and training skills.
    • Ability to conduct thorough investigations and risk assessments.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety management software.
    • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
