Research Assistant I - Lymphoma Myeloma Research
The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a highly qualified and motivated Research Assistant I candidate in Dr. Michael Wang's lab. This is a full-time, hands-on research position. We are looking for highly motivated colleagues who can perform and coordinate research projects with minimal guidance from faculty.
Dr. Wang's lab is part of the Department of Lymphoma and Myeloma, which is well funded through multiple funding mechanisms, including two NIH R01s and an R21, two CPRIT grants, and two Leukemia and Lymphoma Society grants. The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is the nation's #1 ranked cancer center, located within the Texas Medical Center (home to 8 academic and research institutes and 21 hospitals). Houston is a large and vibrant city with an affordable cost of living, two major airports, professional sports teams, and cultural activities.
Essential job functions: * Assists the Principal Investigator with scientific research projects.
* Conducts research experiments and projects in scientific fields independently or with minimal oversight by faculty and research staff.
* Records and evaluates data in accordance with methods required.
* Conducts literature searches for research protocols.
* Designs, develops, or adapts equipment used in experiments or research to obtain desired results.
* Determines specific goals or objectives to be obtained, evaluates research data, and develops and revises techniques or approaches to work problems.
* Compiles, writes, and submits project results to mentor.
EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor's degree, major course work in one of the basic sciences.
