Akkodis is seeking Photo Editor for a Contract with a direct client in New York, Washington, DC, or Atlanta.

Salary: $32 -$35 hourly on W2 (The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors)

Digital seeks a temporary Photo Editor based in New York, Washington, DC, or Atlanta.

Job Responsibilities / Typical Day in the Role

• Coordinate photo coverage for breaking news and features and work closely with theDigital teams across platforms.

• Research and produce daily and long-term projects in support of all Digital.

• Select the best images for stories, the homepage, and live coverage of breaking news and events.

• Research and produce photo essays and galleries for breaking news and feature stories.

• Write captions and headlines on photo essays and galleries and produce packages for online consumption.

• Produce photo loops and photo splits, and do screen grabs from live satellite feeds.

• In a fast-paced news environment, you will act as quality control on images that are graphic or raise a red flag, especially coming from third parties that require deep vetting and discussion.

• Work with Rights and Clearances team to ensure that images coming from third-party sources are licensed properly.

Must Have Skills / Requirements

1) Experience Photo Editing for News.

a. 4+ years of experience; We are NOT looking for experience retouching photos; Directing visual coverage of a story, selecting and sequencing photos.

2) Experience Writing Captions and Headlines

a. 4+ years of experience

3) Project Management skills

a. 1+ years of experience; Ability to work on tight deadlines on multiple projects.

Nice to Have Skills / Preferred Requirements

1) Experience working at a digital news platform or a news photo agency preferred.

2) Knowledge of emerging and established photographers and photo agencies around the world preferred.

3) Experience with Adobe Premier and Illustrator are a big plus.

4) Familiarity with SEO and web analytics are a bonus.

5) Photography experience (taking photos, or shooting film).

Soft Skills

1) A solid news background with an understanding of a variety of themes, including politics, business, international news, entertainment and sports.

2) Extremely strong news judgment and an ability to work in a fast-paced news environment.

3) Interest in the photojournalism industry and its trends.

4) Knowledge of AP style.

5) Ideal candidate has photo and News background.
