Location: Dallas, Texas (Corporate Office)

Job Type: Full-Time, In Person

Reports to: Director, Total Rewards & HCM

About the Role

We are seeking a Payroll & Benefits Specialist with Workday Payroll experience to ensure accurate payroll processing, benefits administration, and leave of absence management. This role is critical in supporting our diverse workforce by providing clear communication and exceptional service related to payroll, benefits, leave of absence, and compliance. This position requires full-time in-office presence at our corporate office in Dallas, TX. Remote work is not available for this role.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Administration:

  • Process biweekly payroll in Workday Payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all applicable laws.
  • Review and validate payroll data, including earnings, deductions, and tax withholdings.
  • Ensure accurate 401(k) contributions, benefits deductions, and payroll-related transactions.
  • Handle off-cycle payroll adjustments and retroactive payments.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and assist with audits related to payroll and benefits.
  • Stay up to date on payroll tax laws, compliance changes, and reporting requirements at the federal, state, and local levels.
  • Provide bilingual support to employees regarding payroll inquiries.

Benefits Administration:

  • Administer employee health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance plans.
  • Support open enrollment and provide bilingual education on benefits options.
  • Process benefits enrollments, terminations, and changes in Workday and with third-party providers.
  • Act as a liaison between employees, brokers, and benefit providers to resolve issues.
  • Ensure COBRA, FMLA, ADA, and leave policies are administered in compliance with regulations.
  • Partner with Employee Experience Administrator to implement, monitor, and optimize Employee Wellness initiatives
  • Help develop communication strategies to educate employees on benefits offerings
  • Communicate benefit options and updates effectively in both English and Spanish.

Leave of Absence Administration:

  • Administer and track all types of leave of absence (FMLA, ADA, parental leave, personal leave, disability, workers’ compensation, etc.).
  • Process and manage leave requests, approvals, and extensions in Workday.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and company policies regarding leave entitlements.
  • Work closely with employees, managers, and third-party administrators to provide guidance on leave eligibility and documentation.
  • Coordinate payroll adjustments for employees on leave, ensuring accurate pay and benefits continuation where applicable.
  • Provide bilingual assistance to employees regarding their leave options and requirements.

Workday System & Reporting:

  • Maintain Workday Payroll, Benefits, and Leave of Absence configurations
  • Generate and analyze payroll, benefits, and leave reports for leadership insights.
  • Ensure system data integrity by conducting audits and reconciliations.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (written and verbal).
  • 2+ years of payroll processing experience in Workday Payroll.
  • Experience managing leave of absence programs (FMLA, ADA, workers' compensation, disability, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of payroll tax regulations, wage laws, benefits compliance, and leave of absence laws.
  • Experience administering employee benefits programs, including healthcare, 401(k), and leave policies.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong analytical skills.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills to support employees with payroll, benefits, and leave inquiries.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Workday Payroll Certification or hands-on Workday system expertise.
  • Experience working in multifamily, real estate, or property management industries.
  • Knowledge of multi-state payroll processing.
  • Prior experience supporting payroll tax filings and audits.
  • Holds current SHRM-CP/PHR Certification
