Pay Range: $25 - $45 / hour depending on experience
Job Status: Part-time (29 or less hours per week, year-round)
Location: Roswell Area Park
Schedule: Varies: Monday- Saturday (mornings and/or afternoons & evenings.)
Description:
The Instructor is responsible for providing year-round technical instruction in one or more of the following dance styles: Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip-Hop, Musical Theatre, Acro. We are looking for instructors who can teach a variety of ages (from 1 year through adult) with abilities ranging from beginner to advanced abilities; choreograph routines for class demonstrations, recitals, and special events; exercise exceptional customer service skills to effectively communicate with staff, participants, and parents; & provide backstage help with recital and other performance events.
Dance: Prepare curriculum for class and follow structured format while also being flexible. Choreograph routines for class demonstrations and recitals. Knowledge in teaching basic through advanced level progressions of dance and movement education. Teach Dance Company classes based on level of experience. Attendance at recital rehearsals and recitals required in late April.
Specific Schedule Needs: (beginning Sept 9)
Tuesday Time Slot: 5:30-7:30 Ballet, Tap, Jazz for ages 6-13
Wednesday Time Slot: 3:30-8:30 Acro Dance, Jazz, Hip Hop for ages 6-17
Thursday Time Slot: 5:30-7:30 Musical Theatre for ages 10-17
Requirements:
A Performing Arts degree in Dance highly preferred, however, a minimum requirement is a high school diploma or greater education. Prior relevant Dance instruction experience is highly preferred. Must be energetic, responsible, dependable, and have the ability to multi-task.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
High degree of human relations skills. Ability to effectively communicate and manage information to peers, participants, staff and volunteers. Ability to motivate, coach, and lead participants in the field of dance and/or drama.
Physical Demands:
The work is very physical and may involve some lifting, carrying, climbing, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light to medium weight (5-50 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time on your feet demonstrating dance moves and bending over to assist students with physical corrections. Must be able to communicate orally.
Work Environment:
Work is regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
