Job Description

The MRI Technologist will perform magnetic resonance imaging procedures; will work under the supervision of the modality supervisory technologist and modality medical director. Technologist will perform all technical procedures within the respective modality sections as described in the Radiology Policy Manual, meet the technical competency requirements for the position, maintain an effective working relationship with all staff, and participate in professional education programs, patient/staff safety initiatives, and quality assurance/improvement activities. Responsibilities include adhering to established policies and procedures, ensuring patients understand procedures, coordinating patient flow, participating in quality assurance programs, performing quality control on imaging instrumentation, assisting in imaging procedures, performing injections as required, managing imaging studies and records, complying with regulatory guidelines, maintaining a professional environment, managing departmental supplies, ensuring confidentiality of patient information, and administering imaging contrast media as directed. Required knowledge and skills include a high school diploma or equivalent, documented MRI training and experience preferred, current BLS certification, current or eligible ARRT certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging with RT(MR) designation, preferred ARRT certification in Radiography with RT(R) designation, proficiency with imaging and hospital information system equipment, computer skills, English language proficiency, ability to respond to staff and patient needs, and physical ability to position patients and manipulate imaging equipment.
