Medical Assistant Scribe Teche Health, a federally qualified health center in Houma, Louisiana, seeks a qualified Medical Assistant Scribe to provide full‑time, in‑office support (Monday-Thursday 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.; Friday 8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.). Job Summary The Medical Assistant will assist providers and nurses with daily clinic duties, ensuring high‑quality care in accordance with scope of practice guidelines. Excellent written and verbal communication, strong customer‑service orientation, and the ability to collaborate across departments are required. Job Duties And Responsibilities Coordinate activities with front‑desk staff and triage incoming patients for providers regardless of appointment status. Greet patients and validate patient information via interviews and screenings. Document pertinent information in the EHR following TAB guidelines. Maintain and secure patient information. Utilize time‑management skills to keep patient flow efficient, communicate wait times, return phone calls promptly, and follow up on missed appointments. Measure temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, head circumference, height, weight, and lab values per TAC/JCAHO requirements. Validate skill and cross‑training competencies. Maintain logs and supplies per TAC/JCAHO requirements. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must meet the following requirements. Education / Experience High school diploma required. Completion of a medical‑assistant program preferred. No prior experience required. Communication Ability Excellent communication skills necessary for understanding and relaying instructions to patients and team members. Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, patients, family, visitors, government agencies and the public. Math Ability Basic math skills. Reasoning Ability Ability to read, analyze and interpret directives from supervisors and TAC personnel. Computer Skills Basic computer and data‑entry skills required. Ability to utilize the EHR systems. Professional Skills Assume responsibility and exercise authority over assigned work functions. Establish and maintain quality‑control standards. Work harmoniously with professional and non‑professional personnel. Organize work, manage assignments, and achieve goals and objectives.
