Landscape Designer

We are seeking an energetic entry-level to junior-level Landscape Designer to work collaboratively as part of our multidisciplinary team. As part of our Landscape Architecture discipline, you will work with our team of civil engineers, land surveyors, landscape architects and environmental planning specialists to provide landscape and site design and graphics preparation support for a variety of private and public sector development, recreation, and conservation projects.

About the Position

The successful candidate will be relied on to provide site and landscape design and graphics preparation support to our design teams. The position can be based out of either our Southborough or Plymouth offices, with a hybrid schedule incorporating work from home days. Travel will be required (mostly within Massachusetts, but occasionally to other New England states) to perform municipal research, fieldwork, meetings, and public hearings.

Assignments may include, but are not limited to:

  • Fieldwork to conduct site observations, photo documentation and site analysis
  • Research regarding site constraints and history
  • Research, obtain and analyze data and information to prepare written reports, planning, and feasibility studies, which can be complex
  • Documentation of existing and proposed site conditions
  • Evaluation of project compliance with applicable local/state/federal regulations
  • Site design including layout and grading
  • Planting design
  • Evaluation and selection of site furnishings
  • Preparation of graphics for reports, etc. and renderings of project designs
  • Preparation of project descriptions as part of application packages for submittal to approving authorities and associated coordination
  • Project representation and presentation at meetings, site visits, and public hearings. These can occur outside of normal working hours (e.g. evenings/weekends)
  • Address client issues and questions as required, with direction from Senior Staff as warranted
  • Participate in professional activities and organizations, including evening and weekend events

Requisite Skills and Experience

Two-year degree with relevant experience, four-year degree, and/or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture.

Additionally:

  • One to two years relevant experience and/or internship experience preferred
  • Satisfactory education and experience requirements
  • Knowledge of plant materials
  • Proficient with equipment and software pertinent to the performance of professional practice, such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, Rhino, Lumion or similar
  • Possess strong organizational skills and ability to follow-through on assignments, complete tasks accurately and within required timeframes, which are at times expedited, and coordinate internally and externally on aspects of the project germane to their specific tasks to facilitate smooth project completion
  • Strong written and oral communication
  • Interpersonal and client interaction skills

Job Type

Full-time, although we may consider candidates seeking part-time employment for at least 20 hours per week.

 

Compensation, Benefits, and Culture

B+T is offering highly competitive compensation as well as a signing bonus for the selected candidate. Our anticipated compensation range for this position is $32.00 - $38.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.
