Hammer Williams Company is seeking a Junior Category Manager to support our Merchandising team in managing and optimizing product categories across our Jiffy Trip Convenience Store chain. This role will focus on analyzing sales data, will assist with product selection, coordinate product promotions, and work with vendors to ensure the right product mix and pricing strategies. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, data-driven, and eager to grow within the retail industry.
Job Overview:
The Junior Category Manager reports to the Director of Merchandising and Marketing and supports our Merchandising and Marketing team.
Key Responsibilities:
Category & Product Management :
Assist in managing assigned product categories, ensuring alignment with customer preferences and sales trends.
Work with vendors to source and select products that fit our stores’ needs.
Monitor inventory levels and recommend adjustments to optimize stock levels and reduce shrinkage.
Support category resets, seasonal planning, and new product introductions.
Assist in management of Pricebook.
Data Analysis & Reporting:
Analyze sales data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for category growth.
Monitor competitor pricing and industry trends to ensure competitive positioning.
Prepare reports and presentations on category performance for senior management.
Vendor & Supplier Relations:
Assist in negotiating pricing, promotions, and contract terms with suppliers.
Build and maintain positive relationships with key vendors.
Track vendor performance and ensure compliance with agreed terms.
Marketing & Promotions:
Support the development and execution of promotions, pricing strategies, and merchandising plans.
Work with the marketing team to create in-store and digital promotional materials.
Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of promotions and recommend improvements.

Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills to interpret data and identify trends.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Works well in a collaborative environment.
Problem-solving: Ability to identify and solve problems related to category performance.
Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and tasks.
Retail Experience: Retail experience is preferred.
Software Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel/PowerPoint).
Education: A bachelor's degree in a related field (finance, marketing, management, business economics) preferred.
Experience: At least 3 years’ experience in retail, merchandising or category management is preferred.
