Join Hixson Architecture Engineering Interiors as the IT Manager for the Cincinnati-based firm specializing in the design of complex industrial, workplace, and science & technology facilities. With 20 integrated technical disciplines under one roof, Hixson delivers exceptional design solutions through collaboration, innovation, and long-term client partnerships.

The IT Manager leads the day-to-day operations of Hixsons technology environment, ensuring stability, security, and scalability across all systems and services. This individual will supervise two IT professionals, serve as the firms primary technical resource for server and network administration, and collaborate closely with the Director of Technology on firmwide initiatives involving infrastructure modernization, cybersecurity, and digital transformation. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines technical expertise with strong people skills. The IT Manager will partner with department leaders across the firm to understand operational needs, identify opportunities for improvement, and align technology solutions that enhance efficiency and project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Leadership & Management: Supervise and mentor two IT team members, fostering professional growth, accountability, and collaboration.
• Leadership & Management: Serve as the departments day-to-day operational leader and primary contact for technology-related needs firmwide.
• Leadership & Management: Promote a service-oriented IT culture that emphasizes responsiveness, communication, and teamwork.
• Systems Administration: Manage and maintain Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Active Directory, VMware, and backup/recovery systems.
• Systems Administration: Oversee system patching, upgrades, and performance monitoring to ensure high availability and security.
• Systems Administration: Administer file servers, storage, and user permissions to support project collaboration and data integrity.
• Network & Security: Maintain the firms LAN/WAN infrastructure, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless networks.
• Network & Security: Partner with cybersecurity vendors and the Director of Technology to enhance Hixsons security posture and monitor vulnerabilities.
• Network & Security: Enforce IT policies and participate in incident response planning and mitigation.
• Support & Operations: Provide tier-2 technical support and escalation management for complex issues.
• Support & Operations: Ensure consistent delivery of excellent internal customer service to approximately 125 associates.
• Support & Operations: Manage software licensing, hardware lifecycle, and technology vendor relationships.
• Strategic Involvement: Collaborate with department heads to identify technology solutions that improve workflows, communication, and project performance.
• Strategic Involvement: Recommend improvements in IT systems and processes to support business growth and innovation.
• Strategic Involvement: Assist in annual IT budgeting, procurement, and long-term planning.

Qualifications

• Education & Experience: Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Education & Experience: Minimum 5 years of progressive IT experience, including at least 3 years in a systems administration or leadership role.
• Education & Experience: Experience supporting a professional services firm; A/E/C industry experience preferred but not required.

• Technical Skills: Familiarity with security frameworks, MFA, endpoint protection, and vulnerability management.
• Technical Skills: Experience with CAD/BIM environments (Revit, AutoCAD) a plus.
