HVAC-R Journey Sheet Metal Installer

Hunter-Davisson, Inc. is a commercial HVAC-R Design Build Mechanical Contractor seeking a Journey Level Sheet Metal Installer to join our growing team. The person we are seeking is a team player who is highly organized and demonstrates outstanding customer service.

Job Description

Fabricates, assembles, installs, and repairs sheet metal equipment distribution systems and products.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Interpret specifications, blueprints and material schedules as needed to complete sheet metal installations.
  • Installs and directs installation of assemblies in building or work-site.
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Establishes and adjusts work sequences to meet construction schedules using knowledge of capacities of equipment and assigned personnel.
  • Studies schedules and estimate worker-hour requirements for completion of job.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems.
  • Maintains time records.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Work within precise limits and standards of accuracy; perform a variety of duties which may change often and rate information using measurable standards.
  • Plan, lay-out, fabricate, assemble, install and repair sheet metal parts, products and equipment utilizing knowledge of working characteristics of metallic and non-metallic materials, machining and lay-out techniques, using hand-tools, power tools, machines and equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, or products specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabrication, assembling and installing sheet metal products.
  • Select gauge and type of sheet metal such as galvanized iron, copper, steel, aluminum, etc., or non- metallic materials such as plastic and fiberglass according to product specifications and per SMACNA standards.
  • Installs assemblies in supportive framework according to blueprints, using hand tools, power tools and lifting and handling devices.
  • Inspects assemblies and installation for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience running large commercial projects with crews of up to ten installers.
  • Strong knowledge of SMACNA standards and mechanical code for both Oregon and Washington.
  • The ability to oversee multiple projects concurrently.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication, organization and technical skills.

Physical requirements:

  • Must be able to: Stand or walk for long periods of time during a regular work day.
  • Use arms and hands to reach for, handle and manipulate objects.
  • Lift and carry materials weighing 50 to 100 pounds.
  • Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds and other climbing devices.
  • Carry tools and equipment.
  • Work while in stooped, kneeling, crouched and crawling positions.
  • Be able to see naturally with or without correction, to safely perform designated tasks.
