Newton County Stone - Rogers Group - Kentland, IN

Full Time - Day Shift

Wages starting at $22.50 per hour, paid weekly. Higher starting pay may be available for experienced candidates.

Newton County Stone is an open-pit limestone mine/quarry seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator for our operation located in Kentland, IN . This will be a dual position between operating equipment and utility work around the plant operation - based on daily operational needs and duties assigned by management. Job Duties:

• Running various pieces of equipment as needed - such as a bobcat, skid steer, and haul truck. Dozer, track hoe,
\n
• General plant labor and clean-up of production areas, including shoveling stone from around conveyors and assisting with plant clean-up and operations.
\n
• Ability to perform plant maintenance work - cutting, welding, changing rollers & bearings, belt splicing.
\n
• Being trained in various production positions and filling in as needed during vacations, absences, and increased production demand times.
\n
• Run water truck to control dust on roadways.
\n
• Report equipment problems and identify them to management; help maintain quarry and equipment.
\n
• Complete daily inspections and equipment pre-shift report - if applicable.
\n
• Assist other workers as needed or directed and other duties as assigned by management.
\n

Qualifications:

\n
• High School Diploma or GED required
\n
• General mechanical knowledge
\n
• Ability to maintain safe working conditions
\n
• Self-starter/ ability to work without close supervision
\n
• Perform daily pre and post inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with company policies
\n
• Previous experience working in mining environment preferred
\n
• Basic welding skills preferred, but not required
\n
• Must pass pre-employment drug screening
\n
• Overtime is required as needed and may include Saturdays
\n
