Job Description
The Ashburnham Fire Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Full-Time Firefighter Paramedic to join our dedicated team serving the residents of Ashburnham. This position performs fire suppression, rescue operations, and advanced life support (ALS) emergency medical care.
Responsibilities:
Respond to fire, EMS, and rescue incidents.
Provide ALS pre-hospital care under state protocols.
Operate and maintain firefighting and EMS equipment.
Participate in training, drills, and public safety programs.
Massachusetts Paramedic certification preferred. If the successful applicant has not completed the Massachusetts Career Firefighter Recruit Training Program (fulltime academy) he/she may be enrolled post hire. This is a union position. Compensation and benefits are detailed in the IAFF Local 4995 collective bargaining agreement.
Successful candidates must complete a pre-employment background check, physical, drug test and must pass the Massachusetts firefighter physical agility test.

The many lakes and hiking trails offer the opportunity for EMS personnel to exercise their skills in both mountain rescue and water rescue. AFD runs two ALS ambulances, two engines, and a ladder truck along with a UTV for remote emergency response.
