Job Description

The Event Director leads the Columbia Slough Watershed Council’s efforts to connect people to the Columbia Slough and its watershed through inclusive, educational, and recreational events. This role oversees all aspects of the Council’s events program and plays a key role in public engagement, partnership building, and communications. Key responsibilities include designing and implementing events that inspire participants to support and advocate for watershed conservation. The Director organizes a variety of events each year—including a large-scale festival (Slough Celebration), paddling trips, guided walks and bike rides, family-friendly nature experiences, and supports volunteer and donor events—that foster meaningful connections to place and community. The Event Director manages event-related budgets, completes grant and sponsorship reporting, and oversees the Council’s communications with support received from the Development Manager. They provide supervision and direction to seasonal staff, interns, and volunteers who support the Council’s events and communications efforts. The Director cultivates strong relationships with local partners and organizations, represents CSWC at community events, and contributes to the Council’s fundraising and communication strategies. They also play an active role in implementing the Council’s Racial Equity Plan and ensuring events are welcoming, inclusive, and accessible to all community members.
