Summary

\n

There is an exciting opportunity to join the Bird-Johnson team as an Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Technician , where you’ll play a key role in building high-performance marine propulsion systems that serve the U.S. Navy and commercial vessels around the world. As an Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Technician , you will evaluate and perform preventative and corrective maintenance on production equipment and tools, including multi-axis milling machines, foundry auxiliary support systems, and facilities assets. You’ll be responsible for troubleshooting hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems/components to ensure operational uptime and equipment reliability.

Key Accountabilities (not all-inclusive)

Mechanical

\n

\n
• Diagnose and repair milling and turning machines.
\n
• Perform troubleshooting and repairs of:
  \n
  • Mechanical systems
  \n
  • Hydraulic systems
  \n
  • Pneumatic systems
  \n
  \n
\n

\n

Facilities

\n

• Support site facilities, including:
  \n
  • HVAC systems
  \n
  • Cooling towers
  \n
  • Security access systems
  \n
  • Fire detection/suppression systems
  \n
  \n

\n

Electrical/Controls

\n

\n
• Troubleshoot automated equipment using PLCs.
\n
• Apply knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC) for:
  \n
  • Electrical conductor specifications
  \n
  • Conduit installation requirements
  \n
  • Repair of existing and installation of new electrical services
  \n
  \n
\n

\n

Basic Requirements

\n

\n
• Minimum 3+ years’ experience as a multi-craft (electrical and mechanical) industrial manufacturing technician or equivalent technical experience in troubleshooting and repairs
\n
• Ability to lift components weighing up to 50 pounds \n
\n
• Ability to safely operate:
  \n
  • Overhead cranes
  \n
  • Forklifts
  \n
  • Equipment movers (training will be provided)\n
  \n
  \n
\n
• Must be U.S. Citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain Security Clearance \n
\n
• \n High School Diploma or GED required
\n

Preferred Qualifications

\n

\n
• \n 5+ years of experience as a multi-craft industrial manufacturing technician performing troubleshooting/repairs and preventative maintenance
\n
• In-depth knowledge of:
  \n
  • Power Distribution Systems
  \n
  • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
  \n
  • Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
  \n
  • Foundry operations
  \n
  • Gas furnace combustion controls
  \n
  • Machine Tool Technology (manual and CNC)
  \n
  • Tribology
  \n
  • Welding and fabrication
  \n
  • HVAC systems
  \n
  • Overhead cranes (up to 125MT)
  \n
  \n
\n
• \n Bachelor’s degree in industrial manufacturing maintenance
\n
• Detailed understanding of:
  \n
  • Mechanical, pneumatic, furnace gas combustion, and hydraulic system operations
  \n
  • General site facility maintenance
  \n
  \n
\n
• Proficiency or ability to learn Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) – preferably Maximo \n
\n
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, etc.)
\n
