We are seeking a skilled and highly responsible Drone Pilot to join our team and conduct unmanned aerial system (UAS) operations for real-estate marketing, construction progress monitoring, infrastructure inspection, event videography, agriculture surveying] in the greater Nashville area. The ideal candidate will manage pre-flight planning, safe execution of flights under Federal and local regulations, post-flight data management (e.g., imagery, video, mapping), and equipment upkeep. Strong situational awareness, attention to safety, and regulatory compliance are key.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct drone flights in accordance with mission objectives: aerial photography/video, site inspection, mapping, monitoring, data capture.

  • Perform pre-flight site assessments (weather, airspace, terrain, obstacles, safety risks) and obtain necessary authorizations (e.g., airspace, LAANC, NOTAMs) when required.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations (federal, state, local), company safety protocols, and client requirements.

  • Operate UAS equipment safely: perform take-off, flight maneuvers, landing, and maintain continuous visual line-of-sight (unless specifically authorized otherwise) and monitor airspace for hazards.

  • Conduct pre- and post-flight equipment inspections, maintenance checks, battery management, calibrations, firmware updates, sensor checks, and log all flights and maintenance as required.

  • Manage imagery/video/data: download, process, review, and deliver final outputs (photos, video clips, 2D/3D maps, inspection reports) with quality control.

  • Maintain detailed operational logs, flight records, equipment inventory, maintenance logs, and incident reports.

  • Communicate with clients, project managers, site personnel, and other team members for mission coordination, briefing/debriefing, and reporting.

  • Stay current on evolving UAS regulations, airspace restrictions, new technologies, and best practices in the drone industry.

Qualifications & Licensing Requirements

  • Must hold a valid U.S. federal remote pilot certificate under Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 107 (Small Unmanned Aircraft System) regulations. faa.gov+2faa.gov+2

    • Eligibility: Minimum 16 years of age, able to read, speak, write and understand English, physically and mentally capable of safe UAS operations. faa.gov+1

    • Must pass the FAA Unmanned Aircraft General (UAG) knowledge test at an approved testing center. faa.gov+1

    • Completion of FAA form 8710-13 via IACRA and a TSA background screening. faa.gov+1

    • The certificate must be carried or accessible during all commercial UAS operations. faa.gov

  • UAS (drone) registration with the FAA if operating under Part 107 or if required under Part 48 registration rules (e.g., some drones over 0.55 lb) and compliance with Remote ID rules. faa.gov+1

  • Experience operating drones in field conditions with proficiency in flight controls, camera/gimbal operation, and mission planning software (e.g., DroneDeploy, Pix4D) is strongly preferred. 4 Corner Resources+1

  • Strong understanding of airspace classification, temporary flight restrictions (TFRs), LAANC/FAA UAS data exchange, controlled vs uncontrolled airspace, weather impacts on flight, and safe flight risk management. faa.gov

  • Familiarity with local area (Nashville, TN) airspace, airport proximity (e.g., near Nashville International Airport (BNA) and other drones/aircraft operations) is a plus.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to coordinate with site personnel, clients and internal teams.

  • Ability to perform outdoor work, sometimes in challenging weather or terrain; travel within Middle Tennessee may be required.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree or certification in aviation, geography/geospatial, photography, surveying, or related field preferred.

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required depending on field travel needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of commercial UAS flight experience, especially in [insert any industry: e.g., construction, mapping/surveying, real-estate aerial marketing, inspection]. 4 Corner Resources+1

  • Experience flying during low light/night operations, beyond visual line-of-sight (BVLOS) or over people/vehicles (with required waivers / compliance) may be advantageous. faa.gov

  • Drone equipment maintenance capability, familiarity with multi-sensor payloads (thermal, LiDAR, multispectral) is a plus.

  • Familiarity with Tennessee state or local regulations affecting drone operations (for example on state lands, parks, local permitting) is a plus.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Field environment: site visits, outdoor conditions, variable weather.

  • Ability to carry/transport drone gear (cases, batteries, controller, sensors).

  • Walk on uneven terrain, climb ladders or access elevated vantage points may be required depending on mission.

  • Work schedule may vary to accommodate optimal flight windows (morning light, pre-dusk, project deadlines).

  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required for certain projects/events.
