Type of Role: Direct Hire

We’re currently hiring for a  Cost Accountant to join a dynamic accounting team in St. Helena, CA. This role is ideal for someone with strong analytical skills and a passion for inventory and cost accounting, especially within the wine industry.

Role and Responsibilities:

General Accounting

• Maintain month-end inventory reconciliations for dry goods and finished goods.
• Analyze and communicate wine cost variances for budgeting and reconciliation.
• Prepare reconciliations for grapes, bulk wine, and barrels across production facilities.
• Track and reconcile bulk wine storage costs.
• Communicate monthly production costs and variances to management.
• Support Controller and CFO with financial reporting and analysis.

Cost Accounting & Inventory

• Cost finished goods bottled monthly.
• Review packaging component costs and propose standard cost changes.
• Maintain accurate inventory reporting for packaging and goods.
• Analyze cost variances and provide insights.
• Reconcile monthly physical inventory counts.
• Prepare and post journal entries.
• Oversee inventory item setup and bill of materials.
• Maintain retail pricing tables and historical wine COGS breakdowns.
• Provide cost accounting support to internal teams.

Skills and Experience:

• BS/BA in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in general and/or cost accounting (wine industry experience a plus).
• Knowledge of AMS (Advanced Management Software) preferred.
• Strong understanding of GAAP.
• Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams.
