Job Description
Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Controller to oversee our financial operations and ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the month-end close process, financial reporting, and risk management, while also leading and mentoring the finance team to achieve organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities - Oversee and manage the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls throughout all financial processes.
- Lead the implementation of POC (Percent of Completion) revenue recognition and ensure proper application.
- Conduct monthly financial analysis and reporting to provide insights into performance and variances.
- Manage and maintain financial systems, including ERP and Deltek Vantage Point, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
- Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate financial risks.
- Provide team leadership and mentorship to finance staff, including performance evaluations and ongoing training.
- Prepare forecasts and budgets, and assist in strategic financial planning for the organization.
- Ensure compliance with state sales tax regulations and reporting.
- Collaborate with FP&A teams to drive financial performance and optimize resources.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction accounting, including job costing, progress billing, and percentage-of-completion methods.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar financial management role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting standards.
- Experience with financial systems and ERP software, particularly NetSuite and Deltek Vantage Point.
- Proven track record in managing the close process and POC revenue recognition.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Excellent leadership and mentoring skills with experience in performance management.
- Ability to communicate effectively with executive management and stakeholders.
