What you'll be doing Coat Check Assistants are an integral part of the Gallery Assistant team, delivering exceptional client service to internal and external clients in New York. The team will liaise with Auction and Operations departments when necessary to ensure clients' inquiries and issues are handled as promptly and efficiently as possible. The Coat Check Assistant's primary responsibility is to secure client's property which may include jackets and other belongings, issue claim tickets while providing prompt, courteous and professional service. What your day might look like

• Staff the coat check during sale viewings and on sale days, and for after-hours special events
• Provide superior client service through gracious and attentive demeanor, prompt assistance, and by treating all Christie's clients in the most helpful and cordial manner.
• Ensure the tidiness of the coat check area and front entrance space.
• Answer clients' inquiries about sales and views, and respond to general questions regarding the auction process.
• Collate client feedback for Client Service Supervisory team.
• Take direction from the Client Service Supervisory team to perform ad hoc duties including assisting the Client Service team as needed.
• Wear Christie's garments while on duty and follow dress code policy.

What you'll bring to the team

• Flexible approach to job role and working hours, including weekend and evening availability, is required
• Demonstrated experience in delivering excellent client service in a luxury, commercial environment, including active listening, empathy and patience
• Highest standard of confidentiality, discretion and work ethic
• Enthusiasm for Fine and Decorative Arts
• Excellent standards of self-presentation with a friendly, enthusiastic and welcoming disposition
• Commitment to punctual attendance
• Excellent communication skills (particularly in spoken English)
• Coat Check Experience Preferred
• Work is performed as part of a team in an often-busy front of house setting and coat check area
• Required to stand throughout the duration of the shift, except during breaks
• Required to lift and carry objects up to 30lbs
• Ability to feel comfortable in public greeting and escorting clients within the physical premises
• Access to personal email is required for scheduling
• This position is tied to the live sale calendar, and so hours will change week-to-week.
