The Civil Service Commission of the City of Avon Lake shall hold an examination for the purpose of creating an eligibility list for original appointment to the position of Firefighter/Paramedic in the Avon Lake Fire Department.
Step 1 Salary effective January 1, 2025: $71,051.50 annually
Includes comprehensive benefits, membership in the
International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) Local 1361, and
coverage under the Ohio Police & Fire Pension Fund
Applications are available online at or in person during business hours (8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) at the Avon Lake Municipal Building, 150 Avon Belden Road, 1 ST Floor, Avon Lake, Ohio, beginning Wednesday, October 1, 2025. All applications are due to the Civil Service Commission no later than 4:30 p.m. on Friday, October 31, 2024. Only complete applications with pertinent documents will qualify for the test process.

A $25 non-refundable filing fee is due when applying. Said fee shall be in the form of cash or personal check made payable to the City of Avon Lake.
