Job Description

St. Paul Academy and Summit School seeks candidates for the position ofAssistant Fencing Coach. This coach will work closely with the head of the Fencing program and other assistant coaches to train our highly motivated and dedicated student-athletes. Season runs from November 2024 through February 2025.

Candidates will be required to demonstrate strong organizational skills, effective communication skills with students, other coaches, parents, and administration, as well as teach and develop fencing techniques to student-athletes with varying levels of experience. Candidates should support the mission of SPA and nurture our student-athletes in a positive educational-based athletic philosophy.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Assisting the head coach to run practices and high school tournaments
• Communicating with coaches about training plans, training feedback and tournament feedback, etc.
• Communicating with fencers about their goals and achievements as well as providing individualized feedback.
• Attend the school dual meets and HS tournaments
• Attend team events like preseason meetings, team picture day and end-of-season banquet, etc.
• Maintain a safe, positive and fun environment
• Participate as a positive team member in the development and support of excellence within the Athletic Department.
