Position Overview:

Upstaff is seeking hardworking and reliable individuals to fill  Apple Farm Harvester positions at an apple farm in Wellesley, ON. This seasonal role involves assisting with the apple harvest, including picking, sorting, and packing fruit, while ensuring a safe and efficient operation. It's a great opportunity to work outdoors and gain experience in agriculture.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Apple Harvesting:

  • Pick apples from trees, ensuring high-quality fruit is harvested.
  • Use ladders and tools to reach apples in taller trees, carefully placing them into picking containers.

• Sorting and Packing:

  • Assist in sorting apples based on quality and size for market preparation.
  • Pack harvested apples into crates, baskets, or boxes for delivery or storage.

• General Farm Maintenance:

  • Help with clearing fallen fruit, maintaining clean harvest areas, and supporting other tasks as required during the harvest season.

• Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with other harvesters and farm supervisors to ensure a smooth and efficient harvest process.
  • Communicate effectively with the team to address any issues or concerns.

• Safety Compliance:

  • Follow all safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in work areas to minimize accidents and injuries.

Qualifications:

• No prior experience required; however, farm or agricultural experience is an asset.
• Physical stamina to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform manual labour.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and use basic farm tools.
• Strong work ethic, punctuality, and team-oriented attitude.
• Reliable and able to work independently or under direction.
